Fluxbox: Removing XMMS from iconbar (using status-docklet)
Hey folks; Poetics here with another Fluxbox question for you.
I've just installed the xmms status plugin, which opens a systray icon for xmms. In both Gnome and KDE, this little applet will hide xmms from the taskbar/iconbar, but sadly in Flux it does not, though it still makes the window disappear.
Googling and searching LQ on the matter has resulted nothing other than tips for Gnome/KDE which are inconsequential/not relevant to fluxbox.

Anyone able to help me on this one?

The applet is probably written specifically for Gnome and KDE - just a WAG. Just found this - maybe this is what you are looking for: http://alltray.sourceforge.net/
Most interesting. Thanks for the help this week, Sargek!
Edit: Dang, it overrides the current systray with its own, which would be fine except for the programs that already put icons in the systray. *sigh* I'm sure there'll be -something- I can use here

What happens if you disable your Fluxbox tray in the ~./fluxbox/init file (the line starting with session.screen0.toolbar.tools)? Maybe you can substitute alltray for flux tray.
Some programs really don't react well to alltray sadly (already tried the suggestion, sadly) -- having these items on the iconbar isn't a big deal, but it's something I miss compared to KDE or Gnome where such things are easily possible (via alltray, et cetera)
IMHO, I think because Flux is a minimalist WM, they might not have been tremendously concerned about the tray compatibility, or the apps that have tray icons have concentrated on the desktop environment (Gnome,KDE) tray compatibility instead of worring about the smaller userbase of WM's like Flux. Just a WAG...
