flashplugin for Firefox 64bit

I know this question is asked many times, I myself has asked this for Fedora 10. Now i have newly installed Debian Lenny 64 bit and having the same problem.

I installed the mozilla-flashplayer from www.debian-multimedia.org, it didnt work

Downloaded 64 bit plugin and copied the .so file to /usr/local/lib64/mozilla/plugins didnt work.

also tried copiying it to ~/.mozilla/plugins. that is also not working .

is there any other way ....

I am new to Debian ....

You can use the flashplugin-nonfree package for Lenny, get it from Debian backports.
Here's how to do it:

http://backports.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=instructions

Before you install anything from backports i would purge the flashplayer-mozilla package and related dependencies.

That's because you are running the x86 version of the flashplugin with nspluginwrapper.
Rather than using the native x64 version.

I downloaded the firefox from the below link

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/product...nux&lang=en-US, It didnt say it is a 64 bit or 32 bit . But when i take "Help -> About Mozilla firefox" from the firefox browser, it says i686(x86_64) , so is it a 32 bit or 64 bit firefox ?

Thanks
Peeths

The link you have posted is for the 32 bit version.
I thought you were trying to install the 64bit flashplugin on a 64bit browser?
Can you copy and paste the exact output from about firefox?

Ok Peeths, you need to help me out here as i'm confused as to where you are right now:

ia32-libs-libnss3 solved the issue
So then why:

Quote:
I downloaded the firefox from the below link
Did you know that Debian has an unbranded version of FF in it's repositories, called Iceweasel?.
Is Iceweasel installed currently also?

You need to decide which version you want to use.
Here are some options:

1,Use the downloaded 32bit browser and appropriate plugin.
2,Use the 64bit version of Iceweasel and the native 64bit plugin.
3,Use the 64bit version of Iceweasel with the 32bit plugin with nspluginwrapper.

Post back what you have installed and which option you prefer.
Personally i find option 2 works well for me,but it's your machine so it's your call.

I am using firefox for a long time and i prefer that browser only, as i am much confident and familiar with the browser.

ALso it is having a lot of add-ons like firebug tool that helps my web development and download helper and go on ....

AFAIK the FF package you can currently download from here:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html

Is for x86 only.
And yes,the jpeg you have attached does say x86_64 after i686.
I am guessing this is because you can run the x86 version on a x64 system,as i posted earlier.
So to my mind you are now trying to install the x64 plugin into the x86 browser!!.
So don't be surprised if it does not work.

However there is a test x64 version in the FF nightly builds:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.o.../latest-trunk/

Can't say if it works well,as i've never used it.

Backports has the flashplugin for x86 and x64 architectures,so decide what browser you are using and install using the instructions from their site.

If you are not going to take time to read what's posted, then i can't help you any further.

In the meantime just use Iceweasel x64 from Debian's repositories.
