why is getting flash to work on a freebsd 6.2 such a pain in the neck.
i thought nvidia was tricky until i upraded my ports collection. but this flash is making me feel as though my bsd machine will never see the light of youtube and the likes.
step 1: emulators/linux_base
step 2: www/linux-flashplugin7
then i did the sim link. i cant remember what it was exactly because i am at work right now; i will post tonight.
Code:
# ln -s /usr/local/lib/npapi/linux-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so \
/usr/local/lib/browser_plugins/
# ln -s /usr/local/lib/npapi/linux-flashplugin/flashplayer.xpt \
/usr/local/lib/browser_plugins/
i remember that i couldnt use the handbook's example because that not where my files were located.
then i read that someone had better luck with linux-firefox. that doesnt make sense to me becuase i used to run slackware and only some aspects of firefox could be automatically updated. the flash had to manually downloaded, extrated and ./installed. i have never been able to get ./ to work on freebsd 6.2.
anyway I installed linux-firefox but it will not launch from any where;not the applications menu on gnome2 not the xterm
