Are you using Unity?
Have you tried a different desktop environment, such as XFCE?
What OpenGL files have you removed and how?
Which video card have you got?

Ok I have switched over to the Nvidia 9100M drivers again and tried installing the 173 version which in the past screwed up the x-server. However now the issue with flash seems to be "fixed". The major issue I had when moving between tabs on my FF and the flash crashing now doesn't happen anymore (I hope).

So I guess there had to be some "conflict" between Nvidia drivers and Flash that made flash crash so often.

Nvidia binary drivers are mutually exclusive with mesa, so you shouldn't mix them. Have you installed the Nvidia binary drivers from Ubuntu's main repository or from an installer downloaded from nvidia.com?

i installed the Nvidia drivers from the Ubuntu repository

BTW Nvidia advises that the built in drivers of the linux version may interact better then their own drivers so should I even try their drivers?

Just out of curiosity: have you tried Google Chrome's builtin new flash version?
From where your flashplayer is from? Package from repo?
