[SOLVED] File has wrong icon, how do I fix it

When I save a PDF file, the icon displayed is wrong. Instead it shows something like a first page document.
How can I reset it to display the correct icon (like Acrobat PDF icon)?

Unless you tell us which desktop environment/window manager you're using, then it's hard to say. As the answer really depends on the desktop environment/window manager you're using.

What you are seeing is the thumbnail versus just a meme based filetype icon. As posted it depends on what desktop and or file browser you are running. For example, for the Nemo file manager just select menu View and un-tick "Show Thumbnails"

Thank you so much. I have searched on the internet with no results and you made it so simple. Thank you again.
BTW-
My file 'browswer' is The GNOME Project version 46.4 and it was a breeze following you suggestion. It sure is
nice having things "back in order".

FYI, the Gnome file manager is called files which was formally Nautilus.
