Question FC3 SoftwareRAID & DELL

Hi everyone

I've just bought a DELL PowerEdgeTM SC1425 server
and want to mirror the disks (RAID1).
The SC1425 only supports softwareraid.

In Fedora Core3 install I’ve followed the guide on:
redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-3-Manual/sysadmin-guide/ch-software-raid.html

I've made "/home" on disk1 and "/" on disk2.

If I pull out one of disks Linux still works and boots probably,
but if I pull out the other disk instead, it writes: "Bad PBR signature", and won’t boot.

I really need to fix this, so anybody who can help?

Did you remember to install grub on all the bootable drives in the RAID-1? The instructions are here.

When i tro to backup the partition tables

Quote:
#sfdisk -d /dev/sda > /raidinfo/partitions.sda
#sfdisk -d /dev/sdb > /raidinfo/partitions.sdb
It gives me the error: "No such file or directory"

If i try to find in grub
Quote:
grub>find /grub/stage1
It writes: "Error 15: File not found"

Do you have a '/raidinfo' directory? Are your drives actually on '/dev/sda' and '/dev/sdb'?

Your stage1 is in '/boot/grub/stage1'.

You will need to translate the examples to your specific configuration. The same commands will not work in all configurations. Read the text carefully, and try to understand the intent of the operation. Copying random commands and executing them without understanding can damage your data.
