I am trying to install a program in wine that needs to have the name of the cd in the cd drive. Is there any way i can fool it so it thinks i have that cd in a cd drive?
This is what happens: I try to install something, say a game called forsaken, and then, it says i must insert the disc labled forsaken in order to install. i think this is for copy protection stuff. how do i get around discs like these?

why can't you simply have the cd in the drive?? it doesn't work??

how are you going to install the program IF the CD is not in the drive???
I have the cd in the drive, and the installer loads, but then, before it accually does anything, it says that the disc in the drive must be NAMED "Forsaken". So my question is, is there any way of making it (maybe in my wine.conf file) think that the cd drive is named something?
PS: Also in the buisness of a wine.conf file, i can't seem to find mine. its not under /home/*username*/.wine/
should i just find one onlne and cut-and-paste?
Ok, i figured it all out:
I got my conf file back by using the winesetuptk thingie.
then i went and edited the "label =" manually in the conf file.
NOW it installs.

Sorry I made it sound like i was some noob looking for a crack. Don't worry, i am a noob, but i get my software legally. I just thought wine was having trouble with copy protection stuff, as it sometimes does on legally owned programs.
