faking HWaddr and inetaddr


Hi,


is there a way i can make the inetaddr/HWaddr returned by ifconfig be what i want?

hi again, im trying to do this with ifconfig according to how man ifconfig says it can be done. ie:

# /sbin/ifconfig eth0 hw ether <newaddr>
SIOCSIFHWADDR: Device or resource busy


what means this error?

It is saying you can't do that while the card is active.
