Extra characters in terminal display (CuteCom)


I'm using an X terminal program called CuteCom to connect to another linux machine via serial ports. Everything works, but I get a bunch of extra "escaped" hex values poping up in the cutecom display (see below).

Can someone tell me how to prevent these extra characters from displaying?
