Error compiling PearPC under Mandrake 10.1 and FC3

Hi, I'm trying to play around with Mac OSX and so far haven't been able to install it yet. I've tried qemu, which boots but doesn't install and so thought I'd try PearPC. I've got 0.3.1 source and when running ./configure && make, as root, I get an error saying it can't find XOpenDisplay in -lX11.

I've searched the web but not being a c/c++ programmer I don't find much helpful.

Has anyone come across this problem before? Do I need to install a library file or something?

Any ideas would be brilliant!

Here's the output I get:

Hi, I don't know if you've solved this yet (or given up..) but I had the same problems, I use FC3, and I had to install the xorg-devel package ( up2date --install xorg-devel ) that got me past this step.. then the compile failed again with something called nasm ( up2date --install nasm )

Once I'd done those, it compiled fine... but I then had an error when I loaded my ppc.conf file saying it couldn't find video.x i seems that this file had been created in the directory I compiled in. So I copied it to a known location and put the full path in the ppc.conf file...

And then my PPC booted up

And now for my next trick... I'm going to attempt to set up networking... wish me luck

Thanks, I'm glad someone else was having the same problem!

Are you sure xorg-devel is the package name, I tried up2date --install xorg-devel in FC3 and tried looking for xorg-devel in mandrake 10.1 but neither could find the package. The closest I can get is packages starting with xorg-x11-whatever but even then there isn't a devel one.

I'm gonna see if the package libxorg-x11-devel-6.7.0-3mdk makes any difference. It's about the closest thing I can find to what you've said.

I'll keep you posted!

Ooops, my mistake, you want:

up2date --install xorg-x11-devel

(thank heavens for bash history)

Let me know how you get on (still no joy with the networking yet... I'm going to ask the linux guru at work for a quick tutorial on linux networking, I'll let you know if I get anything going.

By the way, there's an FC3 rpm available if you're not worried about networking, the advantage with this one is that the graphics card lets you specify any resolution (so I can get almost fullscreen on my widescreen laptop

it's here: http://heidelberg.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=244
