Question error activating xkb configuration in XFree86 4.3

Hello,

When I try to configure my keboard layout in Gnome2 using xkb-properties-capplet, I receive the following error:

Error activating XKB configuration.
Probably internal X server problem.

X server version data:
The XFree86 Project, Inc.
4300001

I use SuSE 9.0 with XFree86 4.3.0.1

Is there a genius out there with a solution?

thanks,
Bernard
