Please *don't*. Only "make install", and then only if you really need to, should be run as root.

Please assists me, I didn't find any other helping resources and I was working hardly with this since yesterday I installed any dependencies but I don't know what to do now.
When posting error messages, please be very sure that you include the full message from the very start.

As asked before, what is wrong with the version that comes packaged for your system?

Ok, that's not normal

1. Check to be sure that the build-essential package is installed. build-dep should have installed it, but check anyway.
2. What is your OS and version
3. Did you downloaded php from php.net, unpacked it and nothing else?
4. Why don't you use the default one. What kind of "optimization" do you want to perform by compiling php
5. Did you ever compiled something? I compiled a lot of things and the only times I saw such terrible errors, it was because I was doing it badly wrong.

I am working with issue during all the day, everyone tell me that something wrong but I couldn't find what is wrong.

I am running on Ubuntu 9.10, I have build essential. The error I mentioned above was by running ./configure with the options :

Code:
sudo ./configure '--prefix=/usr/local/php5''--with-config-file-path=/home/tygueirn/configs' '--with-apache2' '--with-mysql' '--with-mysqli' '--enable-exif' '--enable-ftp' '--with-gd' '--with-jpeg-dir=..' '--with-png-dir=..' '--enable-mbstring'
The make didn't return any message except couldn't find a makefile. The directory /home/tygueirn/configs is created using sudo mkdir and should contain the php.ini file everything is well explained on the doc I follow and nothing no remark has been mentioned and I didn't follow it, at least nothing should be wrong regarding this step. I think I should contact the doc writer if you ask me why you don't do right now just he has no email I should track him by IRC.

The lines errors above are not all error message simply because I copies from the last error message to the top one, also I couldn't send all because the form here didn't allow more than I think 10000 characters but the major errors and all errors seems to me the seem, even on my console when I select from the end and I go up I couldn't arrive to the beginning of the command as the number of lines errors are enormous.
Thank you

tygueirn: I can't help you if you have compile/build problems in Debian. I never do that except for the kernel and even then it is a prerequisite that you do that the 'debian way' and not the ordinare make configure, make install etc.

Can you please follow up on why you need to compile your own packages for PHP. This is highly unusual. And even then you could pull in some packages from testing if you really need to. Altough not recommended for a server.
