Hi I want to run windows software on my ubuntu. I tried wine and it only works somewhat with yahelite. I tried the linux version of yahoo voice chat<gyach>, and have come to the conclusion that no one has successfully used gyach without it crashing. So i want a emulator, that will let me use yahoo messenger with voice in linux without emulating a whole operation system.
Technically, "Wine Is Not an Emulator"---which of course is why that is the acronym...
No, I do not understand the subtle distinction between "emulator" and what wine does.
Wine--and the commercial version (CrossOver Office)--do not claim universal support for Windows apps. the only way to get this is to actually run Windows using VMWare or one of the other virtual machine apps.
Often, in the Linux world, it is better to find the equivalent native application----eg don't ask: How do I run Word---but rather ask: What are the best Word-processing apps?

Yes normally i would do this accept I haven't found anyone who has successfully used gyach enhanced with voice. Ive searched this forum and ubuntus.

I'd just like to point out that Gyach is not "the Linux version of Yahoo voice chat", but is in fact a totally different product, made by people who are in no way affiliated with Yahoo.
Returning to the original question, in the past I have got Gyach-E to work, but it has always suffered from sudden unexpected crashes, which I've found no way to prevent.

gyach has voice? i enabled the voice option, then clicked on py voice chat and nothing happens on gyach, can't seem to hear anything from the chatroom. any helpful tips on how to do this properly? so far gyach has not crashed on me, only the voice chat is not enabled. i can view cams though.
