I've been using linux for just about three months now, and will never go back to windows, even if i can't fix my problems right now i'm sure that it will work out in the long run.
I'm using Red Hat Linux 7.3 (Valhalla)? Burning CD's has been driving me crazy. I have a IDE cd reader that has to be a seen as a SCSI. Is there a
Emulating SCSI for IDE cd devices. Thanks in advance.
I get this figured out and by by winblows forever (get a clue gates)
Hi. Welcome to LQ, although I see you actually joined a while ago.
Yes, you need to place the following line into your fstab file: append="hdd=ide-scsi"
Where HDD is replaced by the correct device. If you cdburner is on your secondary/slave cable, then it would be hdd, if it were secondary/master, then hdc. There is more involved than just that, but that answers your question anyway. And you should search around a bit, there have been numerous questions lately about CD Burning, they are sure to help you, if you have questions still after reading, feel free to ask away.
Hi
To see if that works type; cdrecord -scanbus
that 'll spit out your dev number like 0,0,0 for inst.
You 'll need that if you use cdrecord from console.
man cdrecord
man mkisofs
good luck
