dual booting madrake...

I currently have two ide disks with windows 2000 running on a pci raid card with disk striping. I want to install mandrake onto a separate disk (a separate ide channel on motherboard) having the option to boot into mandrake or windows at start-up.

What’s the best way to do this….without getting into a mess with the MBR?

First make sure you can even mix the RAID and non RAID on your system. If you can then check if you can choose too boot from the IDE or the RAID.

If you can boot from the IDE drive then install mandrake on the IDE drive and put GRUB or LILO on that drive.

If you can only boot from the RAID one then I suggest you use LILO and install it to the MBR of the RAID disk(s) (not sure how RAID MBR's work)
