Dolphin performance on NTFS drives is horrible, any ways to improve?
I didn't test in on ext4 yet, but on ntfs drive the performance of Dolphin is horrible, when compared to Explorer on Windows.
For a test I dumped around 10000 image files in a folder, folder size is around 10GB in total.
If I open it in Explorer, it opens and lists all files instantly. I can scroll to any part without delay.
If I open it in Dolphin, the folder will be listing files for multiple seconds. New files will be appearing during those multiple seconds. The time it takes to list all files would probably be hundreds of times slower.
Not specific to Dolphin, but same thing happens with KDE save dialogue when used in Firefox.
Saving from Firefox on Windows into the abovementioned test folder with 10000 files is instant, there are no delays.
On Linux, when I try to do this, file dialogue freezes for several seconds before I can even click "Save". During this time not even all files load, if I want to see all files I need to wait longer.
Any ways to improve this?
