Yea it's old but deserves an answer for anyone that looks at it.

Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:

So, I have no clue as to what is wrong. file.so exists, and here are the permissions:
Code:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 98256 Jul 10 06:10 file.so
Also, I am running 64-bit, so I am a little confused as to why it is in lib and not lib64. That may be a bit of a simplistic understanding, so please correct me if I am wrong, but is that the main issue?

Last first: There is no 'real' /lib64; itsa symlink to /usr/lib. All* libraries are in /usr/lib. This has been the (new) Linux distro standard for a while now; part of the (questionable) move to eliminate /sbin and /bin and use only /usr/bin that also encompasses the /lib and /lib64 directories to use only /usr/lib.
The "Unable to create io-slave" usually occurs when trying to run program with login as root.
Don't run as root. Use sudo (... or kdesu "<program_binary> options" in the *.desktop file).
I ran Daniella (using Gellivara now) and never had that problem with Dolphin so it is not a general issue, although there is a general issue with dbus and trying to run programs(not just Dolphin) as root when logged into the Plasma DE as another user. IIRC, same problem exists/existed on openSUSE LEAP KDE ...

*"All" is not totally correct but the differences are too lengthy/specialized to explain. Not all distros have made all the changes, yet.
