does transcode usually take 6 hours?

my box is transcodin the dvd i just ripped to (S)VCD and the eta is 6 hours... whatup with that?

depends on the codec, the CPU, the bitrate, whether
you turn deinterlacing on or not, ...
but it sounds quite likely ;) I've had times between
3.5 and 8 hours on a PIV 1.8GHz
