Divx Encoding possible on Linux?

I know you can convert DVD's to Divx files very easily on Win platforms. Used DVD Decrypter and then Divx Converter and you are done! Now I know DVD Decrypter breaks the encryption which may be illegal??? don't know. Anyway. Is there anything out there that can do any of this on Linux?
