Encoding divx to vcd using mencvcd or transcode or divx2vcd...

Hi everyone!

I've tried lots of divx to vcd conversion stuff, but none of them have gotten to work yet!

I tried mencvcd...
http://www.beginners.org.uk/stuff/li...edding.avi.txt then I tried http://www.beginners.org.uk/stuff/li...edding.avi.txt which got further... but not much

I also tried divx2vcd: http://www.beginners.org.uk/stuff/li...edding.avi.txt

and transcode:
Code:
bob@morpheus bob $ transcode -i wedding.avi -V -y mpeg -F v,4 -E 44100 -b 224 -o test
transcode v0.6.3 (C) 2001-2003 Thomas Ístreich
tcprobe: error while loading shared libraries: libdvdread.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[transcode] auto-probing source wedding.avi (failed)
[transcode] V: import format | unknown (V=(null)|A=(null))
[transcode] no option -x found, option -i ignored, reading from "/dev/zero"
Note that I've tried lots of -x variations - but I guess because it failed probing that none of the -x variations work?

mplayer plays the file fine btw...

mencvcd CAN get further - if u remove the mkfifo command (dun ask me why...) but then it tries to make a file over 11gb in size...
I've only got 11gb free, so thats a non-starter too...

Can anyone help? *gets on his knees and begs*

did you try "avidemux" for encoding avi --> (s)vcd and then use mplex to put the sound together with the mpg and then use vcdimager to make the bin/cue?

I have now
the version I found segfaults - but I think theres a newer version.... ... ...

[edit: The "newer" version is the unstable one - but the stable version segfaults ]

[edit2: The unstable version loads the video, but its gonna take too long to encode as vcd! so I'll have to try again tomorrow - thanks for the idea]

yes your best bet is the unstable version 2, and not stable version 0.9...i think there is issues when the vcd is done making using version 0.9 and you burn it or whatever, it is kinda choppy and the a/v sync isn't the best...its something about a B-frame

Well...

the unstable 2.x does do SOMETHING - it tries to convert the video, but, and this is a big but...

it crashes the whole computer! *shock horror* :P

after about 2 minutes, the whole machine is locked up and I cant do a single thing
