Unhappy Difficult Problem Help Me!

Hi! I have just destoyed my pc.
I have suse 9.2 and i used apt-get to install packages... the problem is that the apt-get corrupted some files (so dont use it in suse) and my kde cannot start
now.. Plz tell me what to do in order to rescue the system

kdeinit gives me the following error
kdeinit: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/qt3/lib/libqt-mt.so.3: undefined symbol: _ZN12QCommonStyle7metaObjE

Any good suggestion?
I think that i should find the rpm packages and reinstall them....I dont know where i can find packages and how to install them...
Thx.. Have a nice day

Use a recovery CD

I would suggest using a live CD such as MEPIS or Knoppix so that you can back up any important data.

Then re-install. You should be able to keep your existing home drive (Use custom partitioning), by NOT FORMATTING it.

Some computer magazines carry Live CDs on them.

Do you have another window manager/desktop installed that you can boot into?

Can you boot into a shell? If you can you should be able to uninstall what caused the problem or reinstall KDE.
