CAPI problem - why does everything have to be so difficult?

Hello everyone,

After a two-week struggle to get my DSL controller (AVM Fritz!DSL PCI) to work under SuSE 9.2 and before finally giving up I decided to try a post here in case anybody can give me a hint about what might be wrong.

The short story is: I get the error:
capiplugin: disconnect(remote): "" -> "" outgoing (pcli=0x102/ncci=0x10102) 0x0000
(0x3312) - No additional information
when trying to establish a DSL connection using pppd.

I can provide lots of details pertaining to this issue but I'd rather wait to see whether anyone has any idea of what might be wrong first before I bother typing stuff I've been doing during the past week which I would prefer to erase from my memory. After all, long posts tend to be deterring...

Thanks in advance,
George
