Dependancy errors while installing MPlayer..Help!

Hi all,
I am a Linux newbie and have installed SUSE 10.0 on my computer. I installed MPlayer through Yast and the installation went fine but the problem started when I tried to run mplayer. Initially it gave me some dependancy problems..then I downloaded those RPMs and installed them. Still when I try to run mplayer it says "mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libdirectfb-0.9.so.20: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
I also downloaded the libdirectfb rpm and installed it but it didnt do any good. Now I dont know what to do. Please HELP! I want to get mplayer running badly.
Thanking in advance,
Raghu.
P.S - Will it be better if I completely uninstall mplayer and start a new installation? How to do this (uninstallation)?

Hello. I don't use SUSE, but perhaps you should build from source? On my Slackware I tried installing it as a package, and had similar dependency problems. But it had everything it needed after building from source. Hope that helps

I am sorry..I did'nt mention this earlier.
I desperately tried from the source files also but failed in the configuration step. The error message said gcc was too old and couldnt compile. My version was 2.96 (I think). So I downloaded gcc-3.3.5-5.src.rpm and installed it. But nothing happened.
