Decoding a makefile

Hi,
I am working on a IDS(a freeware).I have the source code with me. I have to split it into modules. I have separate makefile for all modules.But I don't know how to run each module separately. Can I find this information from the makefile.If so how to find it.
Can anybody help?

can you be more explicit ?
this is truly an application forum .. and you are doing some sort of devleopment.

If you have a makefile .. it will produce dot-o's .or executables. unix term for runnanable programs (in windows it's generally dot-exe ..)

to run a program (if you don't have your path fixed correctly)
./name_of_the_program will execute it .. if the "file" has the execute permissions set.

If all the above is latin/greek .. I suggest read up on "linux/unix programming enviroment"
