cups and margins

I am using slack 9.1 and cups 1.1

Does anyone have an idea how to set page margins?
When I print a test page, I get 0.125" margin on top,
0.25 margin on left and right side, and 0.50 margin
on the bottom. Furthermore, I get some greyish banner
that appears on the bottom of most everything
that I print out, such as source code from kdevelop.

Any help would be great, thanks!
