Hey,
I've just gotten kino to create a series of MPEG files from a miniDV tape. Now I want to make a DVD out of it so the family can watch it with ease... KB3 doesn't seem to want to accept the DVDauthor.xml file created by Kino. How do I create the DVD on a DVD -R drive?

try tovid. Its a fully automated system for authoring dvds.

You can not use just any MPEG files. They have to be encoded for DVD. The utility dvdauthor is picky of the MPEG format, so you may have to go through a few tries to get it right. Cinelerra CVS is a good program to edit DV and encode to DVD format files although it tends to crash and takes a toll on the computer while rendering the video to a format. Kino is sloppy and it looses video quality.

To use dvdauthor with an XML file formated for the use of dvdauthor, use the following steps.
1) dvdauthor -x -o finaldvd
2) dvdauthor -T -o finaldvd

If it finishes successfully, test it in mplayer or xine.

In K3B, copy the files in VIDEO_TS that dvdauthor created to the DVD Video project.
