CPUFreq causing sound problems when stepping to higher freq

Hey,
this is a continuation of my previous thread here:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=453796
I started a new thread because the title didn't accurately describe the problem anymore, and some previous details were more or less irrelevant.

In a nutshell (more details on what I've tried/software config, in the previous thread), it seems that every time CPUfreq increases my CPU clock speed (decreasing makes no difference), my sound stops for a moment and then keeps going. In xmms, the song skips ahead by around 30 seconds or more. When using ALSA's dmix plugin, sound just cuts out completely until the applications are restarted.

Does anyone know what could be the cause of this?

Alright. Random thought hit me again, and I tried changing the CPUFreq driver to p4-clockmod instead of acpi_cpufreq. No problems with this setup, although it means I can't scale my CPU frequency below 2.30ghz and I don't get voltage scaling... now, I'm just trying to figure out, is the problem with ACPI, ALSA or CPUFreq? Someone reported a similar problem here:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-kerne.../msg00301.html

Incidentally, I'm using the same model of laptop as they are (Toshiba A70-TS1, don't know which specific make of A70 theirs is). That means:
ATI IXP150 AC'97 PCI sound card, using Realtek ALC250 chip
|-> Connected to ATI IXP modem, I think
Mobile P4 CPU, 3.06ghz, no HT (NOT a P4-M, apparently)
