Connect to XP share from samba debian

I have Samba installed on a debian machine. I can see the shares when I browse using the file manager. I can connect to my share called samba on my debian hard drive using a terminal and the following:

Quote:
smbclient ////debian//samba -U <usernae ommitted>
I am troubleshooting connecting to the windows shares using the terminal and cannot connect. I can even see a list of folders on the windows machine when I do:

Quote:
smbclient -L gandolf
so I know that I can connect. The problem is that I cannot connect to the windows machine and get a Samba prompt. How di I connect using the terminal?

I would bet its most likely a domain issue. You may need to make the call like this:

smbclient //server/share -U username/domain

Quote:
smbclient //debian/gandolf-U username/gandolf?
