Can't connect to Samba share outside of subnet

I have a samba server running on If I have a computer inside the subnet, for example,, I can connect to the shares fine. If I try to connect from outside, it won't let me. At first I thought it was the firewall, but I disabled the firewall and I still couldn't connect to the samba server. I keep getting this:

C:\Documents and Settings\jgauci>net use s: \\\homes /USER:pawn
Enter the password for 'pawn' to connect to '':
System error 53 has occurred.

The network path was not found.

Is there some rule in samba that only permits people inside the subnet to access a share? If so, how do I disable that rule?
