Question Confused about character encoding

Hi!

I'm a bit confused about character encoding. Have never really tweaked it in linux, so I'm a bit noob in this

The thing is, I ripped some of my music cds from my collection lately. Some of the song titles and so on are not encoded in latin1 encoding. I used KAudioCreator to rip the cds. It handled it fine, just had to change to the appropriate encoding in the edit CDDB Info dialog. But now both song names, and the folders they were put in, are in the native, non-latin1, encoding. Konqueror doesn't seems to recognize it, so it just puts a lot of question marks and I can't read neither of the file/folder names.

So I googled a bit around, but couldn't really find anything that would solve the problem. I've already tried to use Tools->Select Remote Charset in Konqueror, but nothing changes. I thought that may be the font I'm using does not have characters for the encoding I need, but no they are there as KCharSelect showed.

So, is there really something obvious I'm missing? Some config? May be some packages need to be installed?

Do I need to add localization support for the language or something?

Thanks...
