Configuring a printer with Slack

What program would i run to configure a network printer in slackware?

unsure of a actual gui type or config script... but you can always config editing your printcap file...

question for installing cups
after installing slack 8.0 what packages do i have to unistall if i whant to have cups installed (lpr etc..)? do i need the drivers from hp (i have hp deskjet 610C) or some other stuff to have my printer running? by the way i`m absolute newbie, please answer not o abstract!!

nothing
cups comes with its own drivers i got my hp 682c working perfectly with cups
