Question Configuration Troubles - Help!

I have installed Linux Redhat 7.0 on a separate hard drive and I need help in configuring my hardware to run on Linux. I tried Xf86config file but have had no success. Here is a list of the hardware that I need to configure:

1. 19" Samsung SyncMaster 950p monitor Synchronization Horizontal 30kHz - 96kHz , Vertical . 50 kHz - 160 kHz. Maximum Resolution: Horizontal max 1600 Dots, Vertical max 1200 lines. Presently Linux displays my monitor as a very grainy VGA 600 x 800 screen
2. Video Card: ATI Raedon DDR 32MB
3. 56K US Robotics internal modem preset to operate on com 5
4. HP 932C Deskjet Printer connected via fire wire cable to usb port on computer
5. HP 4470 scanjet connect via USB port.
6. I am presently running windows 98 and have networked with my wife's computer so that we can share files and both use the above modem to access the internet. Can I be running Linux and still be networked to a machine running Windose 98? How do I configure Linux for networking to the other computer?
7. IntelliMouse with wheel and programable buttons

Thank you for your anticipated help on this matter.

I guess first thing i'd worry about is getting the more "simple" things out of the way. If the xf86config isn't giving you the output you want, you may want to go to ATI and see if they have a driver for linux you can use. There are alot of options that the kernel supports and depending on the version of that kernel, it's more than likely that you'll have to edit to your needs and rebuild it accordingly to make sure the proper ethernet card drivers, etc. are supported and loading for the network, usb etc.. I'm sorry I can't offer a comprehensive network config. I don't know the specs. But just start out with the video and see what ATI says about that card and linux. There will be many more replies...Have a good one.

First off, the ATI card. If I remember right, RedHat 7.0 shipped with one of the XFree86 v. 3.1.x. The Radeon support during these XFrees was terrible. I never got my Rage 128 to work right until 4.0.x came out. You might want to grab the RPM for the newer X.

-Luck with the other stuff,
