Claws Mail configuration

When I start Claws, the first thing it does is to open a window to compose a message. Since I usually want to start by collecting my mail, the first thing I do is close that window. A small thing, but irritating. I just can't see anywhere to alter that behaviour. Does anyone know if it's possible?

I use Claws too but I've never seen it do that. Try running it from a terminal using the command "claws-mail". Does open the new message window when you do that? I suspect that the icon you're clicking to start Claws is actually running the command "claws-mail --compose" or something like that.

Thank you, that's helped! I've been launching it with the XF86Mail button on my keyboard, set in Gnome. If I use the Menu or the CLI, there's no problem. Gnome doesn't show the command it uses, but is obviously using "claws-mail --compose". The solution was to remove the shortcut from Gnome and create it in Metacity instead.
