Chromium memory leak?

Hi!

I have noticed a weird problem with Chromium lately. If I go to http://www.maps.google.com and enable the satellite view, Chromium calls a program called exe (I guess is /proc/self/exe, which is a soft link to /bin/bash) that eats 50% my ram and slowly fill all swap.

I can hear the HDD writing non stop, the tab is completely frozen and system get very unresponsive until I kill that process. It does not happen when I use Google Maps in Map mode though

This happens for 7.0.544.0 and 8.0.522.0 builds with gecko-mediaplayer enabled and disabled and system-sqlite enabled and disabled.

My system specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3GHz
4MB RAM
nVidia GeForce 8800GTS 320MB

Gentoo Linux Kernel 2.6.35-r5
nVidia drivers 260.19.06

If you need any more log, just let me know and I will post it.

Thanks!

Do you have the same problem with all Chromium extensions disabled? I had a problem like that recently that I finally discovered was caused by a bad extension.

If that fails to resolve it, consider completely removing Chromium, deleting ~/.local/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop and reinstalling Chromium.
