Question Memory Leak

If someone asks me, as a system administrator, How would I eliminate a memory leak if it has occured, how do I answer it.

I know what a memory leak, but I havnt ever come across it in a Unix/Linux environment.

But if I do, What must I do to set it right?

There are many open source programs that suffer from memory leaks...read changelogs of projects like KDE, GNOME etc.

AFAIK, you can't do anything about memory leaks yourself unless you are somehow contributing to a FOSS project. In that case, you can plug the leaks yourself. If you are just a user, you can test for memory leaks and file a bug report and hope it will be fixed pretty soon.
