Chess Doesn't work =(


I'm on slackware 10.0 fresh install on my laptop... when i try to run gnuchessx I get the errors
FATAL ERROR: Failed to start first chess program gnuchessx on localhost: gnuchessx: No such file or directory

Fatal Error <4> Error writing to first chess program: Broken pipe

I really wanna play chess... any ideas? also if gnuchessx is fubar... can someone reccomend a better chess game?

well, did you try to re-install the program???
is ncurses installed???

I had the same problem. What you need to do is download gnuchess and install it. Then create a link to gnuchess* as /usr/bin/gnuchess AND to get the xboard working create another link to gnuchess as /usr/bin/gnuchessx. The first one prolly isnt necessary but thats what I did. If you want xboard to work then you will need to create the link in /usr/bin called gnuchessx. Hope that helps...

Oh yea, you can download gnuchess from tucows.com =)
