Hi,
I've been using kMail for a while and now want to switch to another email client, Mozilla mail. kmail lets you choose between maildir vs mbox format. My default is maildir. I cannot figure out how to import mail into Mozilla-- it has an import button, which presents a box demanding I choose what app to import from, but the list is empty. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Also, is there a way I can have multiple email clients all using the same mail folders, so I can switch freely between clients and keep all my mail together?
perhaps, but kmail supports both/either. I've been using kmail with maildir, so now I'm trying to find out how can I convert my folders to mbox to use with Mozilla mail. Is there an easy way?
Sylpheed beats both KMail and Mozilla Mail, hands down. You can even customise mail headers! It has great multilingual support too. And it can use the maildir or mbox formats import and export.
hi, ok, I downloaded and installed Sylpheed. It looks nice. It seemed to find my kMail maildir directories (~/Mail/), but none of the messages show up in message list. The folder tree shows,
-Mailbox (MH)
-Inbox
cur
new
tmp
Sent
Drafts
Queue
-Trash
cur
new
tmp
etc
This matches the structure of my mail folders, in my home directory ~/Mail/
only when I browse the directories, folders contain files, with strange names, like ~/Mail/inbox/cur/1034766266.1402.nJen:2,S
