changing default office format of openoffice to ms office compatible format


i searched in google and they say you can change the default save format of open office through tools -> option -> general tab -> load save and change to microsoft compatible formats i a drop down that can be found there.

But the funny thing is that dropdown box is MISSING. the load save game is empty with no option in it. how can i change the default save format?. im using ubuntu hardy heron. Thank you

It is in the tools -> option -> load save -> general tab
