CentOS 5.3 - How can I ensure the exact libraries on one system are on another?

Hello all,

In a research environment how can I ensure that all RPMs / packages that appear on one system will exist on another? I.e. when using rpm -qa all libraries on one system will be there on another. The reason for this is to ensure they are as close as possible. Is there an easy way to do this without dealing with a larger management suite tool?

Thanks
Charles

To be absolutely sure you need to use the format options of rpm to get version, release and architecture information for the packages. Just having "php" installed on both systems doesn't necessarily show they are the same in all respects. (You can also use yum list installed with yum's formatting options to get this info.) Type "man rpm" or "man yum" for more details.

Additionally there is a software package called Spacewalk which is an open source product like RedHat's Satellite Server. I've not used either but I gather Spacewalk can be used for keeping your servers in sync.
