cdrecord problem

I am using Red Hat 9. When I try to create a CD from the terminal I receive the following error message:
ccdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg5'. Cannot open SCSI driver.

I am able to use k3b without a problem. Why am I getting that error message?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Andrew
