I kind of agree. Making a .cue file and then using cue2toc to convert it makes no sense. Anything would be better than what you have. Worse is the choice of format uses, .wav is unlikely to run in many devices.
These are a set of .flac files comprising six symphonies, each symphony comprising four files, each for each movement. They came with a .cue file. As the flacs were mono, I had first to convert them to stereo. But the .cue file, converted to .toc by cue2toc, produced errors when I ran cdrdao. So I had to edit the .cue.
Anyway, I need a means to control the gap sizes, because, between movements of the same symphony, I want a normal gap, and between a symphony and the first movement of the following I want a larger gap. Only way I know of doing this is with cdrdao. With cdrecord all the gaps will have the same duration.
EDIT: what was bad in my cue file is that there is no gap in the .wav itself. So
INDEX 0 00:00:00
INDEX 1 00:02:00
misses the first 2 seconds.

See the cdrecord manual and look at the padsize= option.
Thanks, SharpyWarpy. I was using cdrdao with the PREGAP XX:XX:XX instruction to write audio but will now use cdrecord, which I trust better, with padsize=.
