While in the RPMs directory, run an ls samba* to see if they are there. If it doesn't return three files, samba-#.#.#, samba-client-#.#.#, and samba-common-#.#.#, then they are on one of the other two CDs.

juanb,

if you haven't downloaded the newest version of samba (2.2.8) you should go to http://www.samba.org. I don't know what version is on RH8.

The 3 files you would want to download is:
samba-2.2.8.tar.gz
samba-2.2.8.tar.asc
samba-pubkey.asc

then run the following:
gpg --import samba-pubkey.asc
gzip -d samba-2.2.8.tar.gz
gpg --verify samba-2.2.8.tar.asc

If you just want to run it off the CD (/mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS) then you would just run:
rpm -Uvh samba-2.#.#.i386.rpm

You can get more information at http://hr.uoregon.edu/davidrl/samba/...-multiple.html by David Lechnyr.

There is also a great article at http://www.sugoi.org/bits/index.php?bit_id=10 on how to add your samba server to a win2k domain so you don't have to add every single user to your samba server, they automatically get authenticated by the domain.
