Cannot print from OpenOffice 2

Running Debian Unstable and KDE.

I cannot print from OpenOffice2.0.0.2. I can print from any other application.

My default print system is CUPS.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks

The name of your distro is "unstable"? Wow, but anyway how did you install openoffice, rpm package or binaries?

I installed from .deb files. "unstable" (which isn't very) includes OOo 2.0.

In fact, this is why I run the unstable version, otherwise I don't get OOo, KDE3.4 etc.

You could try going here and downloading and re-installing openoffice, make sure that you completely uninstall the version that came with your pc first. Those may be rpm packages, but you need to follow the installation instructions in order for it to work properly. That's what I did cause' mine came with version 1.something and I wanted to upgrade, so this is what I did and it works perfect. Anyway, this "should" fix any problem that may be in the config files. Kind of like how when our university laptops get ghosted you have to re-install java cause' it doesn't work right.

SOLVED!

I found the source of the problem. The printer is a venerable Canon BJC-4100. In the Print Dialog Box, Printer Properties, there is as setting: "Postscript Level" which is set to "from driver".

It can also be set to "1" or "2".

"1" works. "2" doesn't. Does anybody know how I can make this setting stick? It defaults back to "from driver".

The print system is CUPS
