cannot find libmysqlclient.so when installing Request Tracker Ticketing program

Ok So I am attempting to install the program Request Tracker for my company but I am running into some problems. I have gone though and installed most the they systems but when I go to initialize the database with mysql i get the following error:

/usr/bin/perl: relocation error: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.so: undefined symbol: mysql_init

I have looked around at a few other sites and one person mentioned that its not necessarily a RT problem but a MySQL problem. He said that you should try to reinstall SQL, which I've done and then locate libmysqlclient.so. So I have done all of this but I am stuck at finding this file. Is it something I have to create with MySQL or what? I am a major noob when it comes to attempting to set up SQL but RT needs it to run....Any help would be very much appreciated.

It is probably more of a Perl problem. Are the necessary Perl modules installed? You can start a CPAN shell as root (perl -MCPAN -e shell - you will have to answer a lot of questions if it's the first time you run it) and type install Bundle:BD::mysql, at least I think that's the right bundle.

Well, I ran CPAN and it says that the Bundle is not found because it doesn't know what that is. I have never used CPAN before so I don't really know what I'm doing with it. Any more help would be greatly appericated

CPAN is the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network and is a means to collect and distribute Perl modules basically. The CPAN shell provides a simple way of installing modules directly from CPAN. The website also has an excellent search page which is a good place to start if you're looking for a Perl module.

In my post above the install line was screwed up by the auto-inserted smiley so let's try again. What you want to type in the CPAN shell is:
Code:
install Bundle::DBD::mysql
