cannot copy flash player file to firefox plugin folder in kubuntu
Hello...newbie here...
I am trying to copy libflashplayer.so to mozilla plugin folder but
i copy the file...go to the plugin folder and right click to paste and
the paste feature is grayed out. I tried control-c and cont-v , then
tried to copy in terminal...but it doesn't find the downloads folder
for me to cp the file.
Hi Dave, you need to be root to write outside of /home/...
type su and enter the root password to continue.
Make sure you type exit to logout of the root shell. (when you finish doing this, if so..)
But otherwise, rsync preserves the file permissions for the file being transfered.
Another way I used to use was, as root, creating soft links from the libflashplayer.so file,
and then when the update comes out, just change the file in /home/../..someplace. (maybe not downloads, you get the idea, I hope.
dave@ubuntu:~/Desktop/flash$ sudo ln -s libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and if applicable,
dave@ubuntu:~/Desktop/flash$ sudo ln -s libflashplayer.so /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins
You shouldn't have to do this, But over time I found it easier to keep my /home/glenn/.mozilla/plugins folder up to date and use that as my linking spot, for /root/.mozilla/plugins to, when I need it(not often).
Anyhow, Glad you got it going.
Cheers and regards Glenn
