I was going to re-install RedHat 7.1, so I did...almost. Here's what happened:
First, I got into DOS and did the fdisk /mbr command to get rid of LILO (temporarily).
Then, I booted the install CD, and tried to do a text install. When the partitioning part came up, I decided that a GUI install was for me(wasn't quite ready for a text install
). So, I just did a manual reboot, by pushing the button on the tower.
After that, I rebooted with the CD, and attempted to do a GUI install. Everything went fine, untill I got to the part right before the partitioning part. When I clicked 'custom install', and then 'next', I got an error message similar to this:
'error while reading partition table on hdb. The reason:
No such file or directory.'
WHAT IN THE NAME OF LINUS TORVALDS IS THIS????!!!!!!!!
I'm dazed! I'm confused!! I am VERY UPSET WITH MYSELF FOR ATTEMPTING A TEXT INSTALL!!! I think it might have something to do with the forced shutdown, but I'm not sure. PLEASE, SOMEONE, ANYONE, ANYTHING, HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M GOING TO GO NUTS IF I CAN'T RE-INSTALL LINUX!!!!!!
Thank you for reading, and I look foward to a reply. I am going to go nuts soon, and when I go nuts, I am angry, and when I'm angry, I WILL harm our beloved Tux! DON'T THINK I WON'T!!!!
Thanks again, and please respond! ANY HELP IS EXTREMELY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!
