mountin fat32 partition in rh7.2

Hello,
I have three partitions in my hd. In hda1 I have xp, then hd2 is extended. The latter has a fat32 partition (hda5) and the other(s) partition(s) are for linux. I would like to have access to the fat32 partition from linux.
What I did was to edit manually /etc/fstab and add this line:
/dev/hda5 /mnt/data vfat defauls 0 0

but it did not work?. Any ideas are welcome?.

ok
1 make sure yuo have that folder or directory available in the /mnt directory
2 what happens when you use the mount command? can yuo mount it that way?

here is what i have in mine, and i am able to read and write to it fine
/dev/hdb1 /mnt/mp3.1 vfat user,exec,dev,suid.rw,umask=0 0 0

Thanks for your help. I used my line, however, this time I made sure I had the directory in /mnt/.
