Exclamation Can't Partition With Rh7.1 Because There Is 'no Such File Or Directory'. Please Help!

I was going to re-install RedHat 7.1, so I did...almost. Here's what happened:

First, I got into DOS and did the fdisk /mbr command to get rid of LILO (temporarily).

Then, I booted the install CD, and tried to do a text install. When the partitioning part came up, I decided that a GUI install was for me(wasn't quite ready for a text install ). So, I just did a manual reboot, by pushing the button on the tower.

After that, I rebooted with the CD, and attempted to do a GUI install. Everything went fine, untill I got to the part right before the partitioning part. When I clicked 'custom install', and then 'next', I got an error message similar to this:

'error while reading partition table on hdb. The reason:

No such file or directory.'

WHAT IN THE NAME OF LINUS TORVALDS IS THIS????!!!!!!!!

I'm dazed! I'm confused!! I am VERY UPSET WITH MYSELF FOR ATTEMPTING A TEXT INSTALL!!! I think it might have something to do with the forced shutdown, but I'm not sure. PLEASE, SOMEONE, ANYONE, ANYTHING, HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M GOING TO GO NUTS IF I CAN'T RE-INSTALL LINUX!!!!!!

Thank you for reading, and I look foward to a reply. I am going to go nuts soon, and when I go nuts, I am angry, and when I'm angry, I WILL harm our beloved Tux! DON'T THINK I WON'T!!!!

Thanks again, and please respond! ANY HELP IS EXTREMELY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!

What is sounds like is that the install can't find the partition table at the beginning of the drive. This may have been due to many reasons. Not too sure how you would get out of it. How is the HD set up? In terms of partitions?

Can you boot DOS?

Well, it is as follows:

/boot: 15mb
/: 20000 mb
swap: 256

This is on hdb.

Luckly, I fixed it. Because I added the drive not too long ago, I had the formatting software still lying around. I had to replace the Linux partitions with FAT32 partitions. Then the installation program was able to see them. So, after that, I just deleted the FAT32 partitions, and made them ext2 partitions. Thanks for responding!
