"call to lnusertemp failed" after adding new user

I ran into an odd problem I've never seen before.

I'm running under Mandriva 2008 with KDE. Kernel version is 2.6.22-9-desktop586-2mdv.

I decided to add a user named 'guest' through the MCC. After I added it and quit the Control Center, I logged off. A few minutes later, I tried to log on again with my regular user account and received an error message that said, "Call to lnusertemp failed. (temporary directories full?) Check your installation."

I rebooted into safe mode and examined the /var/log/syslog and /var/log/messages entries and found that the system couldn't update the authorization file in my home directory ( /home/keith) and it could not open the default user face. Then it shut down and went back to the login screen

I've already checked to make sure that my permissions are still the same as they were before and I deleted and replaced the folder /home/keith/tmp/kde-keith to no avail

I deleted 'guest' and the accompanying folders with no results as well. However, I was able to create another new user which works just fine with everything on the machine.

If anyone has a suggestion about how to deal with this and get my original user account back up and running, I'd really appreciate hearing from you

Thanx

solution to "call to lnusertemp failed" after adding a guest

http://anojrs.blogspot.com/2008/10/c...er-adding.html

after searching a little more on the internet i followed the instructions in this link and it worked. KDE apparently creates a symbolic link for the guest home directory and mixes up ownerships...
