Buttons in Firefox do not work

Hi
On some pages, e.g., www.booking.com, some web-buttons (e.g., all buttons on the top of the webpage in the blue bar, such as "Anmelden oder Konto erstellen" [English: something like "login or register"]) do not work on my desktop machine. All these buttons work on my laptop (a popup to login appears).

Setup

Firefox 27.0.1 (on both machines)
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (on both machines)
Javascript is enabled (according to http://www.isjavascriptenabled.com/)
all cookies are accepted (confirmed by http://www.whatarecookies.com/cookietest.asp)
Java version 1.6.0_30 from Sun Microsystems Inc (on both machines as per http://www.javatester.org/version.html, and on both machines I had to allow the java applet to run)
issue persists also when firefox is restarted with deactivated add-ons.
popup windows are not blocked

How can I identify the root of this issue?

is no-script installed ?

some sites need it disabled , if it is installed .

@John VV: no-script is not installed.

Update: today all buttons work! Why? I have no idea. I had rebooted before, and it did not help. Apparently the computer needed a good, relaxing sleep

I would still like to know what had happened (in case the issue reappears), but for now everything is ok. I do not plan to write 'solved' in the title, as this thread does not really provide a solution.
